On the way to yours victory in Los AngelesThe Warriors are off to a 10-0 start. Three consecutive possessions later, Nikola Jokic’s six points returned Golden State (10-10). The Nuggets then take control of operations. Aaron Gordon’s 3/3 triple and physical defense allowed them to take a nine-point lead (27-18). It takes nine points in a row from Jimmy Butler (21 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), so far silent, to keep Golden State in ambush (31-27).
Aaron Gordon on the cloud
The second five of the Nuggets then did not let up the pressure. After Jamal Murray and Jonas Valanciunas, Denver regained an eight-point lead. The triple of Brandin Podziemski – Buddy Hield – Al Horford (13 points) still resisted (51-48). Aaron Gordon then continues his festival. He scores 14 points in three minutes, including four new winning shots always at 100%, and Denver goes +14 (68-54)! Only a burst of defense from the Warriors allowed them to limit the damage before halftime (70-61).
After returning from the locker room, the Nuggets address disappears as Stephen Curry (4 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) sets the goal. Golden then rushes to the crease to get back into the match. With Curry on the bench, Jimmy Butler takes over, with good support from Buddy Hield and Al Horford. A three-pointer from the pivot makes it 7-0 that gives the Warriors an advantage (89-85). Jamal Murray is the one who stabilizes the Nuggets and the two teams are next to each other before the last quarter (94-94).
Stephen Curry takes charge
The tempo of the game slows, and Golden State’s offense grinds to a halt. Across the street, Aaron Gordon finds his address. He finished a 12-1 run with eight points in a row and Denver regained control of the match (109-100). The return of Stephen Curry allows the Warriors to slowly but surely catch up. The best scorer in history, however, misses an open 3-point shot, and on the other side, Cam Johnson’s triple and Nikola Jokic’s floater keep the Nuggets at +7 with less than four minutes to play (116-109).
Golden State, however, is not throwing in the towel. They made four stops in a row, and Stephen Curry’s ten points brought them back to level with 90 seconds on the clock (117-117)! Curry fails to give his team the lead by missing a layup, and Aaron Gordon takes advantage of the opportunity to hit his 10th 3-pointer of the game to give Denver the lead. Chief Curry then caught the equalizer from nine meters, and Golden State’s stop takes the match to overtime (120-120).

Warriors with tweezers
Curry and Gordon continue their momentum, followed by Jokic and Horford. Denver’s missed ball allowed Jonathan Cuminga (14 points, 5 rebounds) to make a layup and put Golden State on +3 with two and a half minutes to play (128-125). The Warriors then bring the point home. Their defense takes over and the duo of Stephen Curry – Jimmy Butler finishes with a score of 12-2 that gives them the victory!
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Stephen Curry, clutchissime. Discreetly in the first half (7 points), Stephen Curry caught fire after the break. He took over in the third quarter (13 points) to bring his team back. Golden State led by seven points with less than four minutes left in the game, saved the game by scoring 15 straight points to send the game into overtime, and added 7 in overtime to put the game away. At 37 years old, Stephen Curry shows no signs of slowing down. A good sign for the Warriors’ season.
– Record start to the season for Aaron Gordon. The last time the Nuggets played Golden State, Aaron Gordon finished the game with 38 points. On this night for Denver’s first game of the season, he was even better. 50 points and 10/11 3-pointers, his record for points and 3-pointers made in a game. Gordon was 7/7 from 3-point range on the break and his aggressiveness allowed the Nuggets to take the lead. He was the one who confronted Stephen Curry at the end of the match. It shows that his address last season (43%) was not an anomaly.
– A duel that fulfilled all its promises. Heralded as the main rival of the Thunder in the West before the season, the Nuggets showed why tonight. The trio of Jokic – Murray – Gordon was fantastic and their summer recruits (Valanciunas, Hardaway Jr., Brown) did the job with Jokic on the bench. The potential is obvious. The Warriors, for their part, confirm a good game against the Lakers, this time against a much tougher opponent. Seven players finished the match with more than 10 points, and Steve Kerr finished the game with the Horford-Green pair inside. As well as being relentless defensively, the two insides were decisive at the other end. If Horford, in particular, can be this effective off the bench (13 points, 3/4 3-pointers), we’ll have to count on these Warriors.
