Stephen Curry is in no mood to be ‘existential’ about the trade deadline
With Golden State Warriors surrounded by rumors before the Feb. 5 deadline, there’s no doubt the team will be a hot topic for potentially making some moves. Especially after Warriors star Jimmy Butler tore his ACLthe team could be in the driver’s seat to make the move, as a star Stephen Curry a question was asked about the trade deadline.
After Golden State’s 123-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, Curry would be asked about the trade deadline, although he was in no mood to talk about it at length. In the short term, he wants to lead the team to victory on this current road.
“I’m not talking about that right now, we’re just trying to win the road game. So there’s plenty of time until February 6, there’s plenty of time before the playoffs, I don’t need (to) any existential thoughts right now,” Curry said, per Anthony Slater.

Stephen Curry of the Warriors on Jonathan Cumminga‘s impact

Warriors star Jonathan Cumminga was also discussed in trade speculation as his playing time has been all over the place due to injuries, though he has reportedly sought a trade from Golden State. He would play in Thursday’s loss, though, as Kuminga played nine minutes, scoring 10 points, making all three of his field goals, along with two assists and two steals.
He would sit out the rest of the game with left knee soreness, while Curry talked about his impact.
“With all the minutes he was out there before he got hurt tonight, just pick your spots when he was attacked,” Curry said. “You know, he’s made some great point-five basketball plays where he swings to the open man, if he’s got a one-on-one situation with space, you know, he does what he does to get the basketball.”
“So it’s just a tribute to him, just to stay ready,” Curry continued. “I know it’s been a while since he’s played with the work he’s put in and understands how things change drastically from one game to the next. He looked good; he looked like he was comfortable out there. Hopefully he’s not out too long and he can pick up where he left off.”
It remains to be seen what will happen to the Warriors at the trade deadline.
