Stephen Curry scores 26,000 points on Christmas Day against the Mavericks

Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry is the newest member of an extremely exclusive NBA club.
The two-time NBA MVP scored his 26,000th career point on Thursday night during a Christmas game against the visiting Dallas Mavericks at the Chase Center in San Francisco, and the NBA was quick to congratulate Curry on that.
“26,000 CAREER POINTS FOR STEPH CURRY! 22nd player in NBA history to reach that mark š¤©,” the NBA wrote in a congratulatory social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
The 37-year-old Curry entered the Mavericks game with 25,988 points and is just 12 away from joining the NBA’s 26,000-point club. only 21 other players in league history.
Curry’s historic shot came the easy way, as he made a great move off the ball, cut to the basket and got the skin for a sweet layup off an assist from Warriors forward Jimmy Butler in the third quarter of the contest.
Curry also became only the fifth active NBA player to have that many career points, joining former NBA MVP winners LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, forward Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets, guard James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers and guard Russell Westbrook of the Sacramento Kings.
Curry, who is also a two-time league champion, remains a dangerous offensive threat every time he’s on the floor, and he can still produce huge results on a nightly basis against any opponent.
He and Warriors seek to maintain their form, as they aim to win their third game in a row on a special day in the NBA.
He can continue to add to his total on Sunday when Golden State heads north of the border against the Toronto Raptors.
