“Having a game like this is definitely a dream come true.”

With his second career triple-double, Castle became just the ninth Spur to record more triple-doubles (teammate Victor Wembanyama has four), and that is perhaps the least impressive aspect of a night when he set a career high in the third quarter when he scored 34 points in a 138-125 win against the Dallas Mavericks.

“It felt good to be out there, to feel comfortable with every shot I made, to see them go in,” the reigning Rookie of the Year said.

Castle joined Hall of Famer David Robinson as the only Spurs to record a triple-double with 40 points.

“Obviously he’s a big part of this franchise. What he’s done for this organization has been great. So it’s special to hear my name even next to his. I see him around the facility all the time. I’ve talked to him a few times. Great guy,” the former UConn star told The Admiral.

Castle Stephon has a rare performance

Not yet 22 years old, Castle became the third-youngest player in NBA history to record the No. 1 spot Triple-double with 40 pointshe is behind only LeBron James and Luka Doncic. The 6-foot-6 guard shot 15/19, including 3/5 from three-point range.

“I don’t know. Maybe high school, maybe,” Castle said when asked if he ever enjoyed a similar shooting night during his playing days.

“But yeah, it felt good to be out there and pick my spots well, I don’t have to push anything, I feel like a lot of my buckets were either wide open or easy ones that I created for myself.”

The Spurs point guard joined Wilt Chamberlain, who did it three times, as the only players to record a 40-point triple-double while shooting at least 75% from the field. I at 21 years and 98 days, Castle is now the youngest player in league history with 40-12-12 in the game. The legendary Oscar Robinson previously held the record at 22 years and 33 days.

It’s the kind of outing that called for an instant team celebration.

“It feels good because if it was anybody else, I would have hit them with a towel,” Castle said of being hit with towels by his teammates right after. “I feel like it’s just a luxury to always root for your teammates, to always be a great teammate. When it’s your night, they’re going to cheer you on.”

“That was my first time. Yeah, it was cool,” Castle said of hitting the drum roll at midcourt after the final buzzer.

“Not really. I was kind of basing it on the last pair I saw,” the Covington, Ga., native said when asked if Wemby had given any instructions about the ritual that began after the Dec. 23 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I thought I did decent? Yeah, I studied the tape a little bit,” Castle added.

That’s the only thing about his night that could be described as decent.
