Steve Kerr reveals Kristaps Porzingis’ debut timeline

The only way to get really excited Golden State Warriors fans at the NBA trade deadline would be to pull Giannis Antetokounmpo’s blockbuster. Since such a move was ultimately not feasible, the team decided to look for an experienced and skilled player who can stretch the floor. Hello Kristaps Porzingis could help the team compete for a playoff spot, but the Latvian 7-footer hasn’t played in a month. When can Dub Nation expect him on the field?
Fortunately, the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr there is timeline in mind. Porzingis will likely sit out the next three games and then try to make his team debut after the NBA All-Star break, according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater. During this time, he will continue to work in San Francisco.
Porzingis continues to battle his illness, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, which has limited him to 17 games this season for the Atlanta Hawks. He is currently recovering from Achilles tendonitis, but based on Slater’s report, it appears the 2024 NBA champion and 2018 All-Star is close to returning. It made a visible impact in a small sample size.
Porzingis is scoring 17.1 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from 3-point range. He is also averaging 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 blocks. The Warriors (28-24) would appreciate the veteran center crashing the glass a little more, given that they are 22nd in the NBA in rebounding, but especially his offensive versatility.
With Jimmy Butler is done for the remainder of the campaign, defenses will focus on Stephen Curry. Kristaps Porzingis can help take some of the attention away from the greatest scorer of all time. Kerr felt that Jonathan Cumminga no longer fit his draft. Now, he’s counting on the man for whom the 23-year-old forward (and Buddy Hield) was traded.
Porzingis’ plan is in action. If all goes as the Warriors intend, they will play the Boston Celtics on February 19.
