Steven Stamkos reacts to a crazy 4-goal game against the Blues

Nashville Predators star Steven Stamkos he just reminded everyone again on Thursday why he is a two-time Morris “Rocket” Richard trophy winner.

Stamkos scored not one, not two, not three, but four goals in the Preds’ 7-2 loss against St. Louis Blues at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to the delight of over 17,000 fans in the building.

At 35, Stamkos’ best days are now behind him, and he’s even being linked to teams in NHL trade rumorsbut there will be nights like the one he just had against the Blues when he feels unstoppable. Stamkos also showed a clear awareness of his strengths that fade when he is talked about his performance in the win against the Blues.

β€œAt this point in my career, you just go back to the preparation you do,” Stamkos said after the game (via Robbie Stanley of 102.5 The Game ).

“Yeah, wouldn’t it be nice to feel like you were 25 again every night? Sure. But you have to put in a slightly different kind of work, and you have to be the same person whether you’re scoring or not. That’s what I’m trying to be. It’s nice when you’re rewarded for the effort you put in behind the scenes.”

Stamkos scored twice in the first period to give the Predators the lead. He then scored two of Nashville’s four goals in the second period as the Preds ended the frame with a big lead, 6-2.

With the win, Nashville improved to 12-14-4 and will look to extend its winning streak to three games when The Predators face the Colorado Avalanche at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colo., on Saturday.
