Still in the doldrums, the Magic take on the Hornets

After traveling to Berlin, then London, as part of the “Global Games”, Magic he greeted Hornets for his return to the United States and, facing a team that was in “the back”, the Floridians conceded their heaviest defeat of the season: 124-97.

With eight players scoring 10 or more points, including Brandon Miller with 20 points, Collin Sexton with 19 and LaMelo Ball at 16/6/7, Charlotte he did not give any gifts OrlandoPrivate Franz Wagner. Starting his game especially with a three-pointer 9/14 in the first quarter, already finished at +15 (35-20) and finished with a sharp “rush”.

Then, the Hornets players did not stop there, they signed another good end of the second quarter to turn it to +21 (62-41) at the break. Bracket, Subs: The entire visiting team contributed and made award-winning baskets, and LaMelo Ball was the perfect conductor feeding off his teammates.

In the second half, one would think that the Magic would wake up somewhat in front of their crowd, as they have been used to in recent weeks, but that was not the case. Worse: Charlotte made it worse, building a 33-point lead in a room that gradually emptied as the deficit grew.

If contributions from Noah Penda, Moritz Wagner or Jett Howard made the score more flattering in Orlando’s favor, the damage was clearly already done and the final act was therefore of no interest. The Hornets, who continue their yo-yo, beat the Floridians for the second time in three games this season.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Charlotte makes a difference in a quarter of an hour. Dominated the day before in Clevelandwith a terrible LaMelo Ball coming off the bench (1/15 on shots), this time the Hornets returned their leader to the top five and then regained the victory. And it didn’t take long, as Charles Lee’s men made their mark in the first quarter: 9 of 14 from 3-point range! Ball, like Collin Sexton, was already perfect in practice (4/4 to two) and the score was 12-2 which allowed the first squad to be dug out in the match. Before a 19-4 run midway through the second quarter, fueled by a little bit of everyone, ended the affair.

Orlando stayed in Europe. It’s obvious that the Magic were still based on European time since they slept for most of the match. If Paolo Banchero and Desmond Bain made their statistics in a vacuum, when there was nothing to hope for, Jamal Mosley’s men can especially regret a completely missed start, which is why they then chased the result throughout the match. Again, the problem for the Floridians was the attack, with too little success in the first half, while the absence of Jalen Suggs was increasingly felt in the defense.
