Strong statement from LT Overton on return from injury

Alabama’s defense is about to get a huge upgrade of its own College Football Playoff second round matchup against Indiana. The Tide believe they will return to form with star linebacker LT Overton returning to the lineup.

Overton hasn’t played since Alabama’s regular-season finale, missing the SEC title game and the Tide’s first-round matchup against Oklahoma. Junior Says He’s “Feeling Great” on the eve of his return and expects to be fully up to speed, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

“I feel great,” Overton said via Thamel. “I feel like before … I feel ready to play.”

Overton isn’t the only member of the team who expects his return to have a significant impact. Alabama’s defensive coordinator warned Indiana about the star defensive lineman’s impact on the Hoosiers’ game.

“I think it’s very difficult for teams to move the line of scrimmage wherever it is,” Womack said, via Thamel.

After a breakout season in 2024, Overton regressed in 2025. While his sacks doubled in his fourth year, all other numbers decreased as a senior. Overton was among defenders of the highest rank by Pro Football Focus in 2024, but wasn’t rated as average until 2025.

Alabama’s defense drops a great performance against Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff. The Crimson Tide collected a season-high five sacks on quarterback John Mateer while holding the Sooners to just 55 yards.

Indiana, however, presents a much different test in the second round. The Hoosiers enter the game with the fourth-best passing offense in the country while averaging the 12th-most yards per game. Their offense runs through the ground offensively, boasting a 20-best rate in the FBS.
