Suni Lee is channeling Ariana Grande to hit back at Victoria’s Secret runway haters

looks like Sunny Lee raises the people again.
He is an Olympic champion applauding the haters who tried to bring her down after her debut in the history of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, reports PageSik. The 22-year-old gymnast, who became one of the first major athletes to walk the iconic runway alongside VNBA star Angela Reese, faced criticism from internet users who took aim at her height and questioned whether athletes belong in high fashion.
Lee wasted no time in replying. Instead, she used humor and confidence to drown out the noise. On October 18, she posted a TikTok in which she lip-synced to Ariana Grande’s hit song “Successful,” adding the caption, “Can you stop bullying me.” With flawless makeup and a confident smile, Lee belted out the lyrics, “It’s so nice to be so young / and have fun and be successful,” embodying the exact message she wanted to send: she thrives, no matter what anyone says.

From gold medals to angel wings
Lee’s appearance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show marked another bold step in redefining what an athlete can be. Dressed in a sporty pink ensemble from the brand’s Pink line, complete with miniature angel wings sewn into her hoodie, Lee walked the runway in Brooklyn during a live performance by K-pop group Twice. Her look, featuring a pink sports bra, low-cut matching shorts and sparkly pumps, captured her signature blend of power and grace.
“Walking into something like the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show felt like a dream outside of my comfort zone,” Lee told Marie Claire before the show. “But that’s exactly why I said yes.”
A proud member of the “Golden Girls” team that won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lee explained that she wants her participation to inspire others. “Growing up, I didn’t see many girls who looked like me in spaces like this. Being here as an athlete, as someone who worked so hard to achieve her dreams, feels powerful. I want young girls to know that they don’t have to fit into just one box,” she said.
However, not everyone shared that feeling of empowerment. Professional model Avery Hatzelman sparked backlash with a viral TikTok criticizing the show’s inclusive casting. “It’s like letting a model play in the WNBA championship,” she said, dismissing Lee’s inclusion as “inclusivity bullshit.”
But Lee’s supporters quickly rallied to her defense. “I’ve got your back girl,” one fan wrote. “Why do people bully you because of your height? It’s like you can’t control it.” Lee simply replied, “Like, literally.”
With a career built on defying expectations, from Olympic podiums to catwalks, Suni Lee proves that success comes in all sizes.
