Team Canada makes Brad Marchand tune up before kickoff

Team Canada prepares to open its Olympics against the Czech Republic on Thursday. Canada is one of the favorites to take home the gold in the games, and it comes loaded with NHL talent. However, with so much talent, creating perfect line combinations can be difficult.

At training on Wednesday, the team made some changes yes Brad Marchand‘s linemates, Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas of Sportsnet.

Marchand was on the fourth line with Nick Suzuki and Bo Horvat between them. This is not the first time that Marchand and Suzuki were on the wings together on practice. In earlier practices, Marchand was lined up with Nathan MacKinnon at center and Florida Panthers teammate Sam Reinhart. Suzuki also took time on the line with McKinnon and Marchand during those practices. Meanwhile, McKinnon and Reinhart worked with Brandon Hagel on Wednesday.

It seems like it would make sense to pair Marchand and Reinhart on the line together, considering they may have chemistry from their teammates in Florida. Regardless, if chemistry is an issue, Marchand can leave those worries aloneas seen in a video posted by HabsOnReddit.

In a short clip showing Suzuki talking to the media, Marchand makes fun of Suzuki as he walks by, saying, “Oui, je m’appelle Nik Suzuki,” which translates to “Yes, my name is Nick Suzuki,” and making fun of Suzuki trying to learn French.

Marchand also posted pictures of the camaraderie of the team. On his Instagram account, Marchand posted his picture and the rest of Canada’s men’s ice hockey team in the speed skating competition, where Canada won silver.

Regardless of what the line combinations are, Marchand and Canada is the favorite against the Czech Republic in his first game on Thursday. They will then take on Switzerland on Friday, before completing the group stage against France on Sunday.
