Terence Shannon Jr. from Minnesota moved on after a stint in the G League

Wednesday night, Minnesota Timberwolves achieved their second consecutive victory dominating the Portland Trail Blazers in an exhaust way. It was an epic game for Julius Randlewho responded to his recent All-Star offense by scoring 41 points in the win.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves’ 2024 draftee Terence Shannon Jr. has been tearing up the G-League lately with some big performances, and now the team has announced big update in terms of the young wing.

“NEWS: Timberwolves recall guard Terence Shannon Jr. from G League affiliate (Iowa Wolves),” the Timberwolves public relations team reported on Ks, formerly Twitter. β€œIn tonight’s game against the Austin Spurs, Shannon Jr. finished with 36 points on 10-15 shooting and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.

Shannon Jr. was an intriguing prospect out of Illinois, and while he played sparingly in Chris Finch’s rotation during the regular season last year, he had a surprisingly big role in the team’s Western Conference finals loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In that series, Shannon Jr. was one of the few Timberwolves players to provide consistent offense for the team off the bench, though it still wasn’t enough to help an overmatched Minnesota team take on the eventual champions.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves recently decided to shake things up by trading for Chicago Bulls wing Ayo Dosunma, sending fellow 2024 draftee Rob Dillingham away in the process. Dillingham never panned out in Minnesota despite high draft expectations, but it’s clear the team still has high hopes for Shannon Jr.’s development.

Either way, the Timberwolves will now have more than a week off for the All-Star break, as superstar Anthony Edwards heads to Los Angeles to take part in the festivities at the Intuit Dome. Minnesota will take the floor next Friday night at home against the Dallas Mavericks.
