Terry Rozier puts $6 million home as collateral for federal bonds
Thursday morning, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier He was taken into federal custody on illegal gambling charges. Rozier was the subject of a league investigation before, and the feds accused him of providing inside information about NBA games to bookmakers in exchange for a fee or percentage of the profits.
Later in the day on Thursday, updates are provided on the conditions of Rozier’s release from federal custody, which were outlined during his court appearance in Orlando.
“…a Florida judge denied prosecutors’ request to set a $10 million bond for the NBA star, NBC News’ Dan Gallo reported. “Instead, the judge only required Rozier to post his $6 million Florida home as a bond and surrender his passport by tomorrow afternoon.”
Gallo added that “shortly after he was asked to put up his home as collateral, Rozier left the courtroom in Orlando on his own. Rozier waived his right to future hearings in Florida and his next expected court date will be in Brooklyn, New York, in December.”
The picture shows Rozier in shorts and a black hoodie as he leaves his court appearance in Orlando.
A big scandal for the NBA

Rozier was arrested along with other former and current members of the NBA community, including Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, as well as former Cleveland Cavaliers player and assistant coach Damon Jones. The NBA placed both Rozier and Billups on leave after their arrests.
Rozier was a DNP coach’s decision for the Heat during their Wednesday night loss to the Orlando Magic on the road, and had already begun to fall out of Erik Spoelstra’s rotation toward the end of last season due to his poor play.
Now, because of the arrest, he won’t be with the team for at least the foreseeable future, and it remains to be seen how the NBA will deal with the public fallout from this incident, especially as the league continues to do business with bookies.
