Texans’ Joe Mixon celebrates a team effort after winning the ‘NVP’ against the Chargers
Joe Mikon ran towards “NVP” for Houston Texas Saturday. That award is not a typo, as it represents Nickelodeon’s Most Valuable Player — awarded after a win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Mixon gashed the Bolts for 25 catches, 106 yards and a touchdown in a 32-12 loss at NRG Stadium. The veteran RB received a rare, prestigious award as the children’s network helped broadcast their sixth NFL playoff game.
The Texans freshman running back, however, conducted their postgame interview like any postgame. He praised his team and used football jargon to describe his feelings.
“It’s a hell of a feeling,” Mixon said. “But we’ve been coming to work all week. The offensive line was down and dirty in the trenches. Our boys showed up for work. It took four tough quarters. But I’m glad we can last another week.”
Next, Mixon praised Nickelodeon for his new award.

Making the playoffs is nothing new for Mixon. Many NFL fans remember he has ignited postseason runs before — as a beloved former member of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mixon entered the AFC postseason with 425 career rushing yards. He also sports a sparkling AFC title ring on one of his fingers. Mixon’s run helped lead the Bengals to their stunning run to Super Bowl LVI in 2021 – blowing through three different opponents to win the conference crown.
The following season, he returned with even more grueling runs. He dismantled the Buffalo Bills with 105 yards in a divisional-round victory over Cincinnati. His Bengals later fell to the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs in the conference championship game.
Mixon now leads the offense in the backfield for a Texans team that began 2024 carrying Super Bowl aspirations. An injury-plagued Houston team still settled for a 10-7 overall record and the fourth seed in the playoffs. But Houston wins its second straight playoff game at home, this time with an “NVP” performance from Mixon.
