The 2026 4-star wide receiver is decommitting from the Sooners

Oklahoma’s 2026 recruiting class suffered a setback Sunday when four-star tight end Braiden Allen was officially selected decommitted of the Sooners, told Hayes Fawcett about the rivals. The 6-foot, 185-pound Lafayette Christian Academy standout from Lafayette, Louisiana, pledged to Oklahoma on Oct. 1, 2025, after previously decommitting from Tulane.
Ranked No. 41 nationally in the Class of 2026 by Rivals, Allen became a target for Oklahoma after transferring from Tulane in the midst of a strong senior season. His commitment came shortly after visits to Oklahoma and Colorado in late September, where he evaluated programs on back-to-back weekends before ultimately choosing the Sooners over Buffalo. Allen returned to Norman over the weekend to attend Oklahoma’s late-season win against the Tigers.
As a two-way contributor, Allen has shown superior productivity as a receiver. During his junior season, he recorded 55 receptions for 1,155 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 21.0 yards per catch. On defense and special teams, he also contributed valuable snaps. In his sophomore season, he recorded 20 catches for 303 yards with one touchdown while adding 13 tackles on defense. Allen’s skill set includes sudden changes of direction that enhance his route running, above-average top speed and an acrobatic catch ability in traffic. He also boasts a triple jump of just 46 feet since his sophomore year.
Allen has seen a flurry of interest, with over 22 scholarship offers, including a recent one from LSU. tigers, as he recently hired Lane Kiffin as head coachthey are reportedly a strong contender for Allen.
