VVE Hall of Famer and current AEV star Jake “The Snake” Roberts he recently underwent another successful surgery in less than a year.

The wrestling legend’s ex-wife, Cheryl Roberts, confirmed on Facebook, it is recorded that Roberts underwent successful surgery on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. While they divorced in the late 1990s, Cheryl and Jake Roberts are currently together.

“The surgery was a huge success! Jake is now home recovering. Thank you for all (the) prayers and well wishes.” Cheryl wrote.

Later, PVInsider also noted that the 70-year-old Roberts underwent “hip revision surgery” to repair his previous hip replacement which had become “problematic”. He has suffered several health complications over the past few years since wrestling his last wrestling match in 2018.

Last year, in May 2025, Roberts also underwent cardiac ablation surgery to correct his arrhythmia. Almost five years ago, in 2020, he also faced complications from COPD and double pneumonia, for which he had to undergo a bronchoscopy. Signed with AEV since 2019, Roberts has also missed certain AEV dates due to his illness during this period.

In addition to his list of medical issues, Roberts was diagnosed with muscle cancer below the knee in 2014, for which he underwent treatment and remained cancer-free. Despite experiencing several health complications, Roberts managed to overcome them all. He worked with Diamond Dallas Page and lost over 50 pounds. He regained his mobility and successfully fought his addiction problems. Currently signed to AEV, he has not appeared for All Elite Wrestling since October 2024.

Roberts made his professional wrestling debut in 1975 and quickly became one of the most talked about stars due to his involvement in the WWF, VCV, WWE, ECV and even TNA. Roberts never won the WWE Championship, but I didstill considered one of the promotion’s best heels and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
