The beloved superstar teases fans that his “current contract” could be his last

One of the most popular and most loved WWE superstars of all time, R-Truth, has opened up his future with the company. After his reports leaving society earlier this year, fans openly expressed their displeasure with the organization. Shortly after Money in the Bank 2025, Truth made a surprise return to the company after signing a new contract.

Recently, speaking on Saturday Night’s Main Event recap, R-Truth dealt with his retirement plans. While he refrained from providing a specific plan, R-Truth offered an estimated timeline for his exit from the wrestling world.

“I always like to say, I’m stealing this from The Rock, I let the pain in my body be my guide when it’s time to go. I still feel good right now,” Truth noted.

Reflecting on his newly signed contract, the veteran wrestler noted that this could be his last. “I thought about it. As you know, I just renewed my contract, so this could be the last,” he admitted. “We all have to have that time. We all have to leave the ride at some point.”

At 53 years old, R-Truth is still one of the most physically fit superstars on the roster. Arguably in the best shape of his career, Truth also talked about staying away from injuries as a result of training with Booker T. Indeed, in all his decades of professional wrestling experience, R-Truth has never suffered such fatal or career-ending injuries.

Earlier this year, according to a Q&A from WrestleVotes (via Cultaholic Wrestling), R-Truth’s WWE release it was a financial decision. The report states that despite Truth’s popularity among the WWE Universe, it wasn’t enough to keep him employed by the promotion.

“It’s just a contractual thing, it’s a financial thing,” they reported. “True for no reason at all, he’s been there for a very long time (and) made a lot of money. That’s the main reason he’s no longer part of this company.”

Despite his release, Truth returned a few weeks later, adopting a brand new gimmick from Ron Killings.
