The Big Three of the Sixers atomizes the Wizards

Authors of a great game against Orlando the day before with a Alex Saar in control tower modeThe Wizards returned to the ground in Philadelphia last night, where the trio of Mackey-George-Embiid was waiting for them. The Sixers, for their part, had to get off to a good start after that bit the dust against the Nuggets C team. It’s over!

Joel Embiid set the tone from the start by offering himself a dunk on a good serve by Paul George (7-0). Washington tried to hang back, held to -7 at the end of the first quarter despite the brilliance of an already sharp Tyrese Maxey (37-30), before going on an 11-0 run to start the second act, with 7 points from guard Tre Johnson for the lead (37-41).

Apparently, Philadelphia didn’t appreciate that and let it be known. Paul George sounded rebellious by scoring 13 points, including three 3-point baskets, not forgetting to serve Joel Embiid to reverse the trend and bring the home team back to the lead in 5 minutes (54-51). Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid took over before the break to increase the deficit (62-56) to definitely distance themselves after returning from the locker room.

In addition to the Maxi-George-Embiid trio, Dominique Barlow did well with 9 points in the third quarter. After a 3-pointer by VJ Edgecombe to close the period with a score of 92-80, Philly’s 11-0 run to start the final action ended the last hopes of the Wizards (103-80). Despite Coulibaly-Sarr’s best efforts and Bub Carrington’s 3-pointers to keep their heads high at the end, Washington finished within striking distance, receiving two 3-pointers from Andre Drummond and ultimately losing 131-110.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

No goodbye to CJ McCollum. Immediately after the match, the Hawks and Wizards made it official Tree Young transferagainst CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert. The former guard of the Blazers and Pelicans only stayed in the capital for a short time, but his professionalism and efficiency were appreciated by everyone. Atlanta will now benefit.

Paul George sounds revolted. As for Joel Embiid (28 points on 10/14 shooting, 7 rebounds, 2 assists), it’s nice to see how PG gradually regains his best level (23 points on 7/11 shooting, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals) and forms a “big three” that can nurture the ambitions of Tireshel Mak. The three buddies shone last night, but we will remember Paul George’s pass in the second quarter, when he allowed his team to come back from an unsuccessful start to the period. Quite simply, he did everything! Three 3-pointers, two shots, a 2-pointer, Joel Embiid’s serve at the head of the racket, and even a block on Malachi Branham. Five minutes in, Philadelphia turned the tide and never let up.

The return of Kelly Oubre. Out with a knee injury since November 15, the winger is finally back and will allow Nick Nurse to expand his rotation. He was allowed 20 minutes of play last night and had to wait until the final quarter to make his only basket of the game, off the rim. A chance for the Sixers public to welcome him back to the game. One of the highlights at the end of the match, with an incredible triple by Andre Drummond with 2/3.

The Rise of VJ Edgecombe. The rookie guard almost pulls off a stunt like this every game! This time, Anthony Edwards style, VJ Edgecombe climbed on top of Marvin Bagley III to try and pull down what could have been one of the dunks of the season! Although he had to see his life slip away, the Wizards’ center stayed on his feet, and VJ Edgecombe ended up missing his dunk, in addition to being called for an offensive foul. We went from a giant poster to this!
