The boss in New York is Cade Cunningham!

For this recovery, we think the Knicks have a score to settle with the Pistons, after two slaps in Detroit earlier in the season. Quickly, New York goes up 9-2, and Jay Bickerstaff’s players can’t find a way to the basket. Then Cade Cunningham forces things and goes on a scoring spree to put Detroit in the game. It works because a few minutes later it is the leaders of the East who are ahead (26-28).

The All-Star could be pushed by Mike Brown’s corps defense, and Jose Alvarado’s energy can be useful, the Knicks can’t tie or pass. There is still a bit of skill missing. Cade Cunningham hits several times in a row from mid-range and the Pistons end the first period well (48-58).

Very discreet in the first half, Karl-Anthony Towns finally shows up early in the third quarter. Much more aggressive, allowing New York to strike.

But with some questionable picks, it gives ammunition to the Pistons and Duncan Robinson, who is hurting for two straight 3-pointers. And when Jalen Branson gets in on the fun, Cade Cunningham reminds us that he’s the boss of the night at Madison Square Garden, especially with a left-handed dunk (79-90).

The Pistons’ substitutions secure the start of the final quarter to stave off a comeback before Cade Cunningham puts the finishing touches on his gem. The head of Detroit and his teammates won in New York with 111-126 and won the fourth game in a row, and especially the third authoritarian one against the Knicks.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

– Cade Cunningham in MVP mode. Jalen Duren is still suspended, the playmaker takes over and he doesn’t do it by halves. He took 34 shots, but finished with 42 points on 50% shooting, including 5/11 on 3-pointers, plus 13 assists, how can you blame him for his choices? The Knicks defense could never contain him. He dictated the pace, with his pace and always calm attitude. The two-time All-Star had a boss match. Great match, simple as that.

– The Knicks still can’t do it… After two slaps in Detroit, Mike Brown was waiting for the answer of his players for this reception of the Pistons. She had been around for a while, longer than the first two encounters. But that is not enough. With a poor 8/35 on 3-pointers, Karl-Anthony Towns on AC power and not enough regular efforts, the 2025 conference finalists can’t find solutions. Match commentator for Amazon Prime Stan Van Gundy wondered if the Knicks were tough enough to face this Detroit team. With three deserved defeats in three matches, we have an answer, at least for the regular part…
