The Bulls see Josh Giddy as their Tyrese Haliburton. What about their Pascal Siakam?

The The Chicago Bulls have collapsed back down to Earth from their hot start to the season, currently below the .500 mark after recently losing games to the lowly New Orleans Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets and most recently, Indiana Pacers. The Bulls started the season 5-0, which many predicted was a fluke at the time, and unfortunately for Chicago, those predictions turned out to be correct.
The good news for the Bulls is that Josh Giddei is continues to play at the All-Star level.
Recently, Bulls head coach Billy Donovan talked about how the team wants to emulate the style of play of the Pacers, who went on a shocking run to the NBA Finals last year.
“That’s the way we have to be,” Donovan said, per ESPN’s Jamal Collier . “We’ve got to be better than the sum of our parts. … Everybody sees how Indiana plays, and the thing that everybody immediately goes to is oh, their pace, their pace, their pace. The one thing Indiana probably doesn’t get enough credit for is, they play very, very fast and (Tirese) Haliburton is a unique playmaker than them, but guys have the physicality to continue.”
Another Bulls source directly compared Giddy to Haliburton.
“They have Haliburton, who is an All-Star, and they have Siakam,” one Bulls source told ESPN. “If Giddy can develop into an All-Star and be what Hali was, when are we going to pull the trigger on getting our own Siakam?”
Right now, the Bulls lack one key thing that Indiana had: defense. All five of Chicago’s starters would be the worst defenders on many NBA teams, and it remains to be seen how the Bulls can solve that problem moving forward. The next match will take place on Monday night against the Orlando Magic.
