The Celtics ended the winning streak of the Pistons!
From the first moments of the game, Cade Cunningham is logically targeted by Boston’s defense, but manages to get out of it with great control. THE Celtics are clumsy from 3 points for a long part of this first quarter and then it makes sense to see Detroit win (24-30).
Boston responds with a 9-0 run to start the second quarter and Jalen Brown, who has been pretty bad up until that point, wakes up. THE Clips resist by presence Jalen Duren and, with a 3-pointer, Ausar Thompson gave his team the lead at the break (57-58).
Cade Cunningham continues to collect points after returning from the locker room, but the debates are balanced and everything will be decided in the last act (86-83). The Pistons also went on a 9-0 run, but Jaylen Brown and Derrick White answered. The Eastern Conference leaders are clearly in danger, but they are running away with plenty of offensive rebounds. He will have two important situations to negotiate in the final seconds.
The first is the match ball in the hands of Cade Cunningham. Jordan Walsh makes a good save and Derrick White comes to the rescue, causing a loose ball. The first missed meeting. The second was Cade Cunningham’s three free throws to tie the game. After scoring the first two, he missed the third, synonymous with defeat (117-114) and therefore the end of the series for him and his teammates.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– The record will wait for Detroit. With 13 wins in a rowThe Pistons tied the franchise record. But there won’t be a 14th straight win after this trip to Boston for the Eastern Conference leaders.
– Tough end to the night for Cade Cunningham. With 42 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, the All-Star shined, often managing to break out of Boston’s defense. If the Pistons could hope so much, it was thanks in large part to him. But his turnover, then his 2/3 free throws in “money time” clearly speeded his team toward defeat.
– Decisif Derrick White. Jaylen Brown on AC, White waited for the perfect moment to strike. And hit hard. He scored 11 of his 27 points in the final five minutes of the game. His game-winning baskets did Boston a lot of good, as did his defensive assist to Cade Cunningham with twelve seconds left.
