The Celtics would love to get Jaren Jackson Jr. in a trade with the Grizzlies

The NBA rumor mill is churning as the days leading up to the trade deadline tick by. The Memphis Grizzlies have started shopping Ja Morant, but one Grizzlies player who are supposedly opposing teams follows, and since the beginning of the season, Jaren Jackson Jr.according to ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel. I one team that’s licking their chops for the chance to trade Jackson Boston Celticsaccording to Matt Moore of Hardwood Parochism.

After Ja Moranta’s trade negotiations, The Grizzlies seemingly want Jaren Jackson Jr. to be the future team. After all, he’s still just 26 years old and a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate. He could be the missing piece, and the Celtics are reportedly hoping that could be them.

“Something has been whispered in the wind for a long time from multiple league sources: The Boston Celtics would love to add Jaren Jackson Jr.,” reports Moore. “There’s no team I’ve heard of with more interest in Jackson. The problem, of course, is what the deal looks like.”

Jackson is an All-Star and still approaching the prime of his career. This season, he appeared in 37 games with just over 30 minutes per game. He is averaging 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from the 3-point line and 76.3 percent from the free throw line.

Moore suggests that the Celtics’ key players would be off the table in a potential Jackson trade, but that Simmons’ expiring contract would be the main topic of conversation. The Celtics would also have to include a lot of compensation in the draft, as well as several young players like Hugo Gonzalez and Jordan Walsh.

As Siegel noted, the Grizzlies are reportedly intent on keeping Jackson around for the future, but this is the NBA and things can change in an instant.
