The Clippers are among several Western Conference teams targeting a Coby White trade

Now it seems that Los Angeles Clippers are part of a litany of West Coast teams in search of acquisition White, according to ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel. White is currently in his senior year the three-year, $36 million contract he signed with Chicago in 2023. Additionally, he was is struggling through an injury-plagued season with a calf strain.

“Whitey is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason,” Siegel said. “The Bulls continue to field calls from a number of teams interested in White. The Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers are among several Western Conference teams interested in the Bulls guard, sources said.”

As for the Hawks, there has been talk of them trading Trea Young to make room for White.

“As reported a few weeks ago following the NBA G League presentation, league executives also presented The Hawks are guarding Kobe White as a potential landing spot for the Chicago Bulls,” Siegel reported. “If you trade Young was madea potential trade with the 25-year-old guard would give the Hawks a dynamic point guard on the same timeline as their young core.

White has played in 17 games for Chicago so far this year. He is averaging 18.4 points and 4.6 assists per game.

There’s no getting around the fact that the Clippers are a mess. They are currently 13-22 years old and are made up of an aging, jumpy veteran team. The most famous are Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. White, with his dynamic play and consistent scoring, undoubtedly would they provide a much-needed sparkby Elias Schuster of Sports Illustrated.

Additionally, he is only 25 years old and brings much-needed youth. Plus, his ability to space the floor can take a lot of the load off guys like Harden and Leonard. At the same time, there is a the risk that he will be there in the short term. Also, recent injuries could cause legitimate concerns from a game standpoint.

The NBA trade deadline is scheduled for February 5.
