The former star is getting a new multi-date UFC Power Slap gig

Former AEV i WWE World Champion Jake Hager (aka Jack Swagger) has signed a new contract with UFC Power Slap. Of course, WWE and UFC are part of TKO Group Holdings, so this marks his quasi-return to the professional wrestling promotion.

Speaking to TMZ Sports Inside The Ring, Hager revealed that he did signed a contract for six performances with the UFC’s Power Slap. He will make his debut during their show on April 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the night before WrestleMania 42 kicks off at Allegiant Stadium.

Hager thinks this will work after being told he has a “very slap face,” as his ex told him. So there should be plenty of potential opponents.

“I am so excited to announce that I have signed with UFC Power Slap,” Hager revealed. “They’re doing a live show (April 17) in Vegas. It’s the Friday before (Rve)mania.”

“I’m going to be competing on that show at heavyweight. I’ve been told I have a very slap face, so I’m sure the line will be around the corner,” he continued.

Power Slap was founded in 2022 by Dana White, CEO of the UFC. As the title suggests, the contestants slap each other. It became a recognized sport.

Jake Hager’s career after WWE

From 2006 to 2017, Hager was with VVE. During his career, he won the ECV Championship and the United States Championship once.

In 2010, he won the Money in the Bank ladder match. He would eventually cash in on his contract with Chris Jericho to win the World Heavyweight Championship. His reign lasted 79 days before losing the title to Rey Mysterio.

After his release in 2017, Hager wrestled in India for several years, including stints in Lucha Underground and Major League Wrestling. He would later become a founding member of AEV in 2019, remaining there until 2024.

He would eventually leave AEV, returning to the independent circuit. Hager announced his retirement from professional wrestling in August 2025. He also competed in MMA before retiring in 2023. However, even though he retired from professional wrestling, he is not leaving combat sports with his latest move with the Power Slap.
