The former Warriors architect heads the group that owns the Sixers
Ancien agent (Brandon Roy, Tyreke Evans…), Bob Myers became general manager of the Warriors in 2012, to four titles (2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022) and two Manager of the Year trophies (2015 and 2017).
Two years ago, however, he decided to leave, tired of this daily and intense commitment.
“In short, the job I have, and I would say the same for any general manager or coach, requires constant commitment, constant effort, 100%. And if you can’t do it, then don’t do it. This is my answer to the question, ‘Why?’ I can’t do that to our players, I can’t do that to Joe (Lacob) and Peter (Guber). And I can’t do that to myself.” he stated as he left.
At the same time, he joined ESPN’s analyst team while advising Josh Harris on the selection of GM and coach of the NFL’s Washington Commanders. Apparently, the businessman appreciated the advice as Bob Myers is now leaving ESPN to become president of Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment.
This is the company that manages all of Josh Harris and David Blitzer’s sports properties, and there are a lot of them: Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), the New Jersey Devils (NHL), the Washington Commanders (NFL) but also the future team WNBA from Philadelphia. Not forgetting the minority share in The Crystal Palace.
At age 50, Bob Myers is transitioning from managing a franchise to managing a true multi-sport empire.
