The heat is lost without its “Mr. Unpredictable”
It was the fourth loss in five games for the Heat, who have fallen in a 10-day streak, dropping them to 7th place. Nothing to worry about, but tonight, Miami lost big to the Kingswhich remained at four defeats in a row. Erik Spoelstra has to deal with a lot of absences, and on Saturday night, Davion Mitchell was in civilian clothes with a groin injury.
Absence is much more complicated to manage than other… “A bit of unpredictability”answered Bam Adebayo when asked by a reporter how he felt about his absence against Sacramento. “Sometimes he brings incredible energy, some desperately needed baskets come out of nowhere, and he finds a way to get them. And defensively, we all know what Davion brings. . . . He’s the head of the snake when it comes to pushing our tempo in transition.”
The engine of the team
Same analysis with Norman Powell when asked the same question. “His energy and effort”replies the former Clipper. “Coach calls him Mr. Unpredictable. He’s the one who flies everywhere on every possession, surprises players with the ball, takes twos, plays on passing lines. He’s that extra defender who comes in to help. His energy and physical qualities on defense have been really missed, as well as his ability to get into the life of opposing leaders.”
What does Erik Spoelstra think? “His Decision Making” underlines the coach of Miami on what Mitchell would bring against the Kings. “I don’t like to talk too much about his assist-to-turnover ratio because I don’t want it to get in his head. We’re always going to make mistakes, I trust him with the ball, I trust his decisions. We’re always going to make mistakes.”
This is our engine. He puts the ball where it needs to be. He helps us play fast. He just has a good feel for the game. He knows what we’re trying to do because he’s a player with a great basketball IQ. But that’s no excuse.”
