The insider notes that Draymond Green is “grimacing” in pain fueling fears of foot injuries

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is injured at the start of the 2025-26 NBA season as a team insider provided insight into what’s going on.

Green has been a fixture in the Warriors’ rotation, appearing in 16 of the team’s first 19 games of the season. However, he suffered a sprained foot as a result and missed the Nov. 24 game against the Utah Jazz.

Anthony Slater appeared on Wednesday’s episode ESPN’s Hoop Collective broadcasts. Slater says he spoke to Green about his sprained foot and compared it to Stephen Curry missing a month when dealing with a torn foot injury. However, Green reminded him that his foot was not torn, but Slater says he was grimacing in pain in the locker room.

“I talked to him in the locker room yesterday. He’s missing yesterday’s game. He wants to play Wednesday, I compared it to when, remember when Marcus Smart fell on Steph? This would have been in the title season, he missed a month. I kind of tried to compare it to Draymond. Draymond said something, Draymond thought it was painful, but Steph thought. He put his shoe on in the locker room while I was talking to with him and you could see he was grimacing a bit,” Slater said at 34:49.

The Warriors will be hoping Draymond Green doesn’t aggravate his foot injury as they need his valuable services on both sides of the ball.

Green is thriving through the 14th year of his NBA career as he continues to excel defensively for Golden State. In 16 games, he is averaging 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He is shooting 38.8% from the field, including 35.7% from beyond the arc and 57.9% from the free throw line.

Golden State has a 10-9 record on the season, holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. They are 1.5 games above the Portland Trail Blazers and three games above the Memphis Grizzlies, while trailing the Minnesota Timberwolves by 0.5 games and the Phoenix Suns by 1.5 games.

After Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets, the Warriors will prepare for their next contest. They stay at home when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on November 29th at 8:30pm ET.
