“It’s true: There’s a strong belief around the league that Antetokounmpo wants one destination above all others in the event that one day he actually asks outright.”
New York,” Fisher wrote.
“After a few more calls, I can confirm that the Knicks – as well as playing in Madison Square Garden – was a specific ‘temptation’ that Giannis himself publicly acknowledged at Bucks Media Day as an outcome he was thinking about during the summer. I even heard that the raucous gatherings of fans outside the arena after Connison was known as a natural emotional charge to win the playoffs is a natural emotional strength of his Support that is so prevalent for basketball and football clubs across Europe, of course, the wait for a championship at MSG is now longer than Milwaukee’s 50-year title drought that the Antetokounmpo-led Bucks ended in July 2021.
Giannis is currently sidelined with a right calf strain suffered earlier this month, and the Bucks are just 10-15 on the season. In 17 games this season, the 2021 NBA Finals MVP averaged 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists.
This latest report comes on the heels of Giannis’ offseason comments about a potential switch to another team.
“It’s like an ordeal, you know? Like when you’re walking through an amusement park and now you’re not wearing a wedding ring like I am, and people look at you like, ‘Oh, he’s kind of hot. Oh, an ordeal. It starts when the season ends until the season starts,'” Antetokounmpo said. “There’s going to be a lot of people who come up to me or my agents and say, ‘Hey, this is a possibility. That’s a possibility.’ But at the end of the day, I will make a decision. My decision today is that I am here and I am committed to it
this team.”
Fans and pundits alike will be watching Giannis’ situation with the Bucks unfold, with the Knicks widely considered the favorites to acquire him in a potential trade.
