The Knicks beat the Grizzlies and move into fifth place

New York Knicks

It was a one-sided game last night at Madison Square Garden. Leading to a new victory for Nixfifth in a row, against a very sad team Grizzlies. In the demonstration collectively, the band of Jalen Brunson (32 points, 10 assists), Mikal Bridges (22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals) i Karl-Anthony Towns (21 points, 13 rebounds) just needed a boost to end the game.

As it has been since the beginning of the season, the Knicks offense is going full steam ahead and, with a successful 12-0 at the end of the quarter, they extend the first deficit of the evening (42-30). Jalen Brunson, already well sharpened, leads the way, and the New York collective follows its leader, while Ja Morant continues to mess up quite a bit.

A 7-0 run early in the second quarter quickly brought the deficit to around 20, and the Grizzlies, who didn’t choose to defend, clearly failed to cut it. Especially because the 3-point margin is too big, because defensive oversights are too common and because the danger ends up coming from everywhere, in front (77-54).

There is no point in asking for suspense, because the break does not change anything and the match is over in the third quarter. The New York collective is too strong for a Memphis team that is unrecognizable, or simply in line with its actual level. As the minutes went by, the gap remained at about twenty for a long time, and in the last act, when the locals relaxed a little, it dropped to about ten. But Jalen Brunson was overseeing the situation.

Therefore, it was an authoritarian success (133-120) for Mike Brown’s men, solid runners-up to the Pistons in the East. A 19-0 run between the first and second quarter will really change everything in this matchup.

TO BE REMEMBERED

New York remains perfect at home. Seven games, seven wins: Madison Square Garden is gradually turning into a fortress and, above all, the Knicks do not fail to delight their fans. In attack, their game is increasingly polished and, in the face of such a disorganized defense, this is causing damage. Aside from a last-minute letdown that made the Grizzlies less salty, Mike Brown’s players exploded: 114 points in three quarters, 22/55 on 3-pointers, 35 assists. On the fast game or placement, everything was working and confidence was high before the back-to-back against Orlando.

What direction is Memphis headed ? Like Ja Morant, who never ceases to disappoint (4/14 shooting and 8 turnovers…), the Grizzlies have had a series of disappointments and it has now brought them six losses in seven games. After finding themselves down -28, the fourth quarter felt like a lie as before that Tuomas Iisal’s men were coming up with some very nasty stuff on each end. Especially in defense, where their intensity and efforts were the least. It is obvious that the group is sinking into a crisis and it is difficult to find reasons for satisfaction in the face of such collective mismanagement.
