The Knicks make short work of the Wizards

Another tough night for Wizardsin a match similar to the one that the Lakers (111-142) received at home this weekend. Against the Knicks, who played like at home, with the support of a large part of the Capital One arena, Brian Keefe’s men did not create any illusions. Distanced from the first minutes, they lasted until the end, powerless in front of the external skill of New York and the experience of its Brunson-Bridges-Annunoby-Towns quartet.

Washington broke through from the first boost in New York, with an 11-2 run fueled by 3-pointers by Hart-Bridges-Anunoby and a layup by Mohamed Diawara to make it 9-21. The Frenchman then served out Landry Shamet before scoring 3 points in return to help the home side down to 16 lengths at the end of the first act (22-38). The rest was hardly more glorious for the Wizards, superior in all points, as they scored 14-0 in less than two minutes (34-63)!

Bilal Coulibaly stopped the bleeding with a 3-pointer, but the damage has already been done and the wound is too gaping for Washington to hope for anything next. New York was content to go into the break with dunks by OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns (45-72) and was content to keep the pressure going in the third quarter to allow Mike Brown to open his bench quickly to rest his holders and allow his team to win almost without forcing (132-101). Only Gershon Yabusele remained on the bench until the end…

WHAT TO REMEMBER

New York passes the 7th without forcing. Any win is good to take in a long season, and the Knicks did just that by being able to save energy for the future while maintaining a good streak to preserve second place in the East. There’s no doubt the level of opposition should rise during the week for the Knicks, between hosting Denver tonight, then trips to Detroit and Boston this weekend, also on the podium in the East.

Nicks external address. New York was able to establish its dominance by relying on its long-range prowess throughout the match. The first half set the tone (12/24) to help increase the margin to +27 at halftime to finish at 17/37 (46%). Behind Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby (3/4 and 3/6), Landry Shamet led the offense with a 4/6 triple.

Injuries to Mohamed Diawara and Josh Hart. Two black points in this match on the side of New York. The French winger was forced to leave his teammates at the end of the first quarter. In a scramble to get a defensive rebound, the New Yorker was shoved in the back by Justin Champagne while in mid-air, causing him to make a poor reception, his left foot landing on Sharif Cooper’s leg before he spun. Mohamed Diawara was then escorted to the dressing room and shortly afterwards was taken off for the remainder of the match. Josh Hart followed suit in the third quarter, twisting his left ankle after falling on Bilal Coulibaly’s leg trying to contest a 3-point shot. And he immediately went out, but walking alone.
