The Knicks take on the Invinci-Bulls

Like the Spurs in the WestThe Bulls surprise at the start of the season and after 10 days of competition, Josh Giddy’s partners are still undefeated! That night, they won 135-125 to enter the NBA Cup and with five wins in a row signed their best start to the season since 1996. However, the Knicks started the game well with OG Anunoby (24 points), Karl-Anthony Towns (22 points, 10 rebounds) in the finish and fast and fluid play to lead 14-7. Conversely, we don’t find the usual Bulls game, and the Knicks lock down the rebound well and provide defensive pulls to force Chicago to play in the half court.

But at the end of the first quarter Gidi gets angry, or rather lets go. The Australian takes the game on his own and Chicago get their alert game back with Matas Bouzelis and Ayo Dosunmu to back him up. The Knicks take the water, and after twelve minutes the Bulls lead 35-27. In the 2nd quarter, Billy Donovan’s players increased the deficit, with speed and this search for the extra pass. Mike Brown makes more changes, but nothing to do! Michael Bridges’ 3-pointer at the buzzer changes nothing. At the break, the Bulls lead 72-53 on 60% shooting and 48% on threes, with 17 assists already.

Led by Brunson and Bridges, the Knicks attack the 2nd period with an 8-0 lead and cut the deficit to 5 points. Under the panels, Mitchell Robinson is doing a lot of good, and the Bulls are struggling defensively. Mike Brown can open up his bench, but the “second unit” doesn’t bring much, with the likes of Jordan Clarkson and Josh Hart out of the picture. As a result, the Bulls regained a 13-point lead with Patrick Williams hitting a long-range shot, but Giddy still cut through the defense.

Imperial duo Gidej-Vucevic

Towns and Anunoby limit the damage (100-91), and Mikal Bridges and Myles McBride imitate them to bring the deficit to -6. Even better, Towns covers Giddy and Anunoby makes two 3-pointers to really pick up the score (115-113). With less than six minutes left in the game, it’s Dosunmu who gives the Bulls some breathing room. After Kevin Huerter’s offensive rebound, he hit a three-pointer that looked like a breath of fresh air (118-113).

Behind, Nikola Vucevic uses Gidei’s caviar to increase the gap (125-116). Shots by Brunson and Towns did not hit the target, and Gidi, this time served by Vucevic, went to the goal below the circle and ended the hopes of the Knicks (128-116). With great skill (54% overall and 46% on 3-pointers), the Bulls won 135-125 for their fifth win in five games.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

The Bulls are going back in time. For the first time since 1996, the Bulls are coming off a five-game winning streak. This has only happened three times in their history, so we have to go back to the Jordan-Pippen years to find any trace of such a perfect start to the season. At 6-0, we’ll have to win in Madison Square Garden against these same Knicks…

Transparent Knicks bench. If the Knicks lost, it was because the replacements didn’t live up to expectations. Like Gershon Yabusele, the bench doesn’t bring anything, and the passes of Jordan Clarkson or Myles McBride burdened the team. Even Josh Hart is next to his basketball.

Giddei on his cloud. Close to a triple-double with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists, Giddy had the best game of his career. The Australian has become one of the best in his position, and his long-range skills are transforming his game.
