The Magic is restarting (finally) in Charlotte

Even in “back to back”, Magic in fact he had no right to make mistakes Charlotte. In a streak of four consecutive defeats, a win was almost imperative and Jamal Mosley’s men did not tremble (123-107), only to move forward collectively.

Led by their trio Franz Wagner (21 points) – Paolo Banchero (20 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists) – Anthony Black (20 points), Orlando didn’t lead at all all night, with a +20 lead in the fourth quarter. A difference of ten units was reached halfway through the first and, even if it was Hornets came within two possessions between the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth, the guests held on.

A success that should restore confidence to this team Magic which since the reboot has struggled to move in the same direction on a collective level. Offensively, things continue to go well, seeing as the Floridians can score 38 points in twelve minutes or 71 points in one half, with good 3-point shooting (16/38 or 42%) and the ability to capitalize on turnovers in a fast-paced game.

TO BE REMEMBERED

Orlando ends his black streak. After four losses in a row, Magic came back to win, successively and at the end of the match dominated from start to finish. The pace certainly needed to be picked up in the final act, with this 9-0 taking the deficit back to +16, followed by another 9-0 to put it at +20, but overall, it was as serious a performance as it gets from Jamal Mosley’s men. Special mention should be made of Franz Wagner, although uncertain before the game, who showed his team the way in the first quarter, all aggressiveness. Or Wendell Carter Jr. and Tristan Da Silva, precious soldiers.

Anthony Black steps out of the shadows. Without Jaylen Suggs, saved for the back-to-back, it’s Anthony Black who reclaims the Magic’s leadership position. Unlike Franz Wagner or Paolo Bancher, on the verge of a triple-double, he was not necessarily expected, but he still played the role of the first X-factor, in the ranks of Florida. Aggressive and skilful from the start, he took advantage of a defense that was not strong enough to punish him, both from distance and in close, and got his team on the right track. Especially since he also helped keep LaMelo Ball from scoring (8/19, including an ugly 1/9 on 3-pointers).
