The NBA suspended Dennis Schroeder for 3 games against the Lakers

The NBA has revealed its punishment for Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroeder following his involvement in an altercation after the Dec. 28 game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Schroder tried to confront and fight the Lakers player. The league recorded the events and suspended the veteran guard for three games without pay on Saturday.

“The NBA announced today that Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroeder has been suspended three games without pay for fighting and attempting to hit another player. The incident occurred approximately 40 minutes into the Kings’ 125-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 28 at Cripto.com Arena, when Schroeder was called for a foul on a player on the play.

“Schroder will be suspended tomorrow when the Kings host the Houston Rockets at the Golden 1 Center.”

NBA Insider Chris Hayes got more information about what happened that night. It turned out that Schroder was trying to confront Luka Doncic after the game.

“Lakers star Luka Doncic was a player searched in the hallway by Kings guard Dennis Schroeder for a post-game altercation Dec. 28, league sources say @NBAonPrime, @NBATV. Schroeder will begin serving 3-game suspension tomorrow,” Haynes wrote.

What’s next for the Kings after Dennis Schroeder’s suspension

It’s been quite a chain of events for the Kings in the last two weeks since the Lakers game. They will have to play without Dennis Schroeder for the next three contests, missing valuable punch off the bench.

Schroder is in his 14th year in the league, his first with the Kings. He began the season in the starting lineup before moving into the role of one of the first players off the bench. He averaged 13 points, 5.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game over 31 games.

Sacramento is 8-30 on the season, worst in the Western Conference standings. They are tied with the New Orleans Pelicans while trailing the Utah Jazz by 5.5 games and the Dallas Mavericks by 6.5 games.

Riding a seven-game losing streak, the Kings will look to get back into the win column in their next matchup. They will be at home when they host the Houston Rockets on January 11th at 9:00 PM ET.
