The Nets were robbed in style by Cedric Coward

That’s what we call the perfect heist! THE Grizzlies took advantage of Brooklyn’s reception to come back to win a match that was unlocked for the home team in the final minutes. By then, the Nets had proven how difficult a team to play against, only to fall a fatal 15-0.

The Nets, however, quickly found themselves in trouble, falling to -16 thanks to the great start of the Coward-Aldama-Lendlay trio (27-11). The margin held up pretty well until the break (61-50), before the Wolf-Clowney-Claxton three-pointer reversed the trend. After Danny Woof’s two 3-point baskets to tie the game at 67-67, it was Jalen Wilson who outdid himself, twice from long range to give Brooklyn the lead (73-74).

Nolan Traore’s teammates kept their momentum going and thought they had done the heavy lifting when Cam Thomas in turn went on a quick layup before feeding Tyrese Martin and Terrence Mann’s 3-pointer to make it 90-98 with three minutes left.

With their backs against the wall, the Grizzlies managed to make the baskets they needed to stay alive, with a long 3-pointer by Cam Spencer, then another by Cedric Coward, and then a tie by Santi Aldama (98-98). With the wind at their backs, Tuamos Iisal’s troops finished strongly, with another 3-pointer from Cedric Coward cutting through Brooklyn’s legs after two offensive rebounds from Jock Landale.

The Australian did it again on the last possession and allowed Jaren Jackson Jr. to secure the victory with a free throw after a flawless 15-0 (103-98).

WHAT TO REMEMBER

The poise of Cedric Coward. Novak shows he is reacting as he approaches the “rookie wall” and stood out at the best time for Memphis, in “money time” under pressure. His two 3-pointers rocked the end of the game, and his 21 will allow him to build confidence for the future.

Offensive rebounds by Jock Landale. As the wing said after the game, before his game-winning basket, Jock Landale grabbed two valuable offensive rebounds to allow him to score. The Australian was looking for the last possession in the last possession at 101-98, forcing Brooklyn to foul Jaren Jackson Jr. It’s less spectacular than Coward’s ranged 2/2, but just as important.

Sorry for the Nets. Between Noah Clowney’s missed shot at 98-90, Terrence Mann’s turnover and this stubbornness in shooting from long range when giving the ball to Cam Thomas to get a few points at the line might have made more sense, the players will have plenty to think about.

Nolan Traore’s altruism. It’s clear that the move to the G-League at the start of the year will do him a lot of good as he sees the field more and more. Thus, for the first time this season, the French guard played his third match in a row with at least 20 minutes of play and was still on the court at the beginning of the “money”. He was not successful in the attack (4 points on 2/9 including 0/5 on 3 points), redeemed himself by signing 6 assists, which is his new NBA record.
