The Nuggets’ Jamaal Murray is out for the rest of the Celtics game with an illness

The Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night they host the Boston Celtics at the Ball Arena in Denver in a shopping battle. However, Denver received some troubling news in the first half, with the star point guard Jamal Murray leaves the game due to illness.

“Jamal Murray is questionable to return with an illness,” reported Vinny Benedetto of the Denver Gazette via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.

Early in the third quarter, Murray was off until the end of the gameaccording to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Before leaving the game, the former Kentucky Wildcats point guard had two points on 1-for-3 shooting from the field and an assist in just eight minutes of action.

Murray was thought likely to play for this matchup of the Nuggets against Jaylen Brown and companybut for a hamstring problem. He was eventually given the green light to see action, but apparently wasn’t able to play much before illness took him out of the competition.

Either way, his status is worth monitoring, as Denver’s backcourt is already missing Jalen Pickett, who is out with a knee injury.

The 29-year-old Murray has been solid since resuming regular season action after the NBA All-Star break. In the three games before meeting with Boston, Murray averaged 22.0 points on 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent from behind the arc, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

Bruce Brown and Christian Brown will mostly fill the void left by Murray in the backcourt, while Nikola Jokic gets more responsibility in running the show for the Nuggets offense.

Denver will play on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
