The owner of Miami released a statement on the hiring of John-Eric Sullivan
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross released his first statement since making the decision to hire the franchise’s newest general manager.
Ross made the difficult choice to move on from longtime member Chris Greer, who had dedicated a lot of time to the Dolphins since 2000. He was general manager from 2016 to 2025, moving midway through last season after Miami could not build winning consistency as a franchise in the modern NFL era.
Ross moved forward with the key decision to find the next GM. He hired John-Eric Sullivan from the Green Bay Packers, issuing a press release To NFL Insider Tom Pelliser on why he made the decision to hire Sullivan.
“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Jon-Eric Sullivan as our next general manager. Jon-Eric brings a clear vision of how to build and lead a football team, based on his own experience in a winning organization. As we went through our search process, it became undeniable that Jon-Eric has the respect he has around the league as a talent evaluator, leader and man of importance,” Ross said.
“We had an extremely talented group of candidates, and Jon-Eric’s ability to excel speaks so clearly to how impressive he is – not just because of his experience, but also because of his depth of knowledge, his detail-oriented approach and his passion. I believe we have found the best of the best in Jon-Eric, and I look forward to working with him as he leads us into a new era of Dolph football.”
What’s next for the Dolphins after hiring a GM

It’s clear that Stephen Ross wants to take a different direction for the Dolphins, hoping John-Eric Sullivan will right the ship.
Miami also moved on from head coach Mike McDaniel after four seasons, which means Ross and Sullivan will be communicating heavily about who should be the team’s next leader.
The Dolphins haven’t had the identity of a serious contender since the Dan Marino era. Making the playoffs six times since the legendary quarterback retired in 2000, they have failed to make their mark in past seasons. With Ross taking action to enter a new path, there could be hope that Miami will return to the discussion as a threat the league can prepare for.
