The Pistons are on a historic 30-game hitting streak after their win against the Kings
The Detroit Pistons pulled out another win on the road on the West Coast, which marked a significant milestone in the team’s history.
With a 136-127 loss to the Sacramento Kings, the Pistons improved to 24-6 this regular season. This is the franchise’s best 30-game start since the 2005-06 season, when the Pistons went 25-5. They finished the regular season with a franchise-best 64-18 record.
Tuesday night’s game marked the Pistons’ third straight win and second on the team’s Western Conference road trip. Detroit’s lead reached as many as 24 points against Sacramento.
A balanced team attack helped the Pistons secure the decisive victory. Detroit did a great job sharing the ball offensively, dishing out 38 assists on 51 field goals. This translated into their transition production as the Pistons put up 27 fast breaks and 70 points in the paint.
The Kings battled throughout the night, but the Pistons were able to hold on for another much-needed win. Detroit survived a dominant scoring performance from star veteran DeMar DeRozan, who historically plays well against the Pistons. The 16-year-old forward led all scorers on the night, scoring 37 points for the Golden 1 center. He was impressive and efficient, threatening the Pistons by knocking down 12 of 18 shots from the field.

One of the leaders in the Pistons’ balanced performance came from breakout center Jalen Duren. The 22-year-old big man had his 17th double-double of the season against the Kings, posting 23 points and 13 rebounds. Seven of those boards came on the offensive side of the glass. Duren shared his views on why these West Coast trips have been so beneficial for the Pistons, dating back to last season.
“I think we had success. I think we had a good chunk of the game against LA (Lakers) and Phoenix (Suns). I think we just caught up to that time of the season. I think it was this time of year as well. We had some new guys to hang with. I think this group caught up to us, but I think this season will be good, but I think this season will be good for us our ability against West Coast.”
Last season’s visit to the West Coast featured notable road wins against the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings. Their only loss was against the Denver Nuggets during that span. Detroit still plays the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers this season.
Duren performed in the second third quarter as he did in the game before against the Portland Trail Blazers. He scored 14 of his 23 points in that period, with solid defense.
Power forward Tobias Harris led the Pistons with 24 points of his own. All-Star running back Cade Cunningham matched Duren with his triple double of 23 points while adding 14 assists. Forward Ausar Thompson continues his hot streak of great basketball scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds. Reserve center Isaiah Stewart had 16 points for the Pistons off the bench.
