The Pistons’ Ron Holland is literally shooting the lights out against the Rockets

The Detroit Pistons are taking on the Houston Rockets on MLK day and it’s tough as we speak. As we know, a term often used in basketball is “lights out”. Well, rookie Ron Holland did just that.

At the end of the first quarter, the Pistons wing drained a 3-pointer from the corner and the lights went out immediately at the Toyota Center. Hilarious stuff.

Commentators also took issue with the incident, claiming that Holland’s three shot the lights out. Holland has been a key player for Detroit this season off the bench, averaging 6.5 points. While he’s shooting just 47% from the field, the first-year forward is a very important defensive piece for the Pistons, who already surpassed last season’s win total.

Detroit entered Monday’s game at 21-21, good for ninth place in the Eastern Conference. This team has a legitimate chance to make it to the Play-In tournament, and maybe even a top-six spot, which earns them an automatic entry into the playoffs. The brilliance of Cade Cunningham was on full display, with the former No. 1 overall pick having an all-around career season.

This roster has a nice mix of youth and experience. Adding like Tobias Harris and Tim Hardaway Jr. were solid front office moves, giving them some veteran presence, which is essential if Detroit wants to be competitive. Also, a great man Jalen Duren proved to be a beast down there with solid numbers. He is averaging 9.8 points and 9.6 rebounds a night. The physical center has dominated the glass lately, including Monday’s performance against a very good Houston team.

As of this writing, Detroit heads into the fourth quarter with a 10-point lead over the Rockets. Holland’s early three are his only points in the game, he has only played six minutes so far.
