The Raptors collapse against the Knicks

Cities of Charles Antony

After a near-perfect trip to the West (four wins and one loss), the Raptors returned to Scotiabank Arena to host the Knicks. To start the meeting, New York admits 7-0. You have to wait five minutes and the prize basket from Josh Hart (22 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists) for the Knicks to open their account.

However, it is the home side who are taking control of this match and are ten lengths ahead from the distance Grady Dick (24-14). To try to rectify this sluggish start to the match, Mike Brown takes the field Jordan Clarksonout of the Knicks rotation for two games, to no avail. New York continues to string together missed shots and turnovers to trail by 10 points (28-18) after twelve minutes.

Two baskets opened the second quarterAnd the Anunobi (26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals), but Toronto responds with two long shots to increase the deficit. The Knicks’ offensive struggles are illustrative Karl-Anthony Towns (8 points, 22 rebounds) teammates served more than once, but several of his shots inside were blocked by Canada’s defense.

Running to turn the match around

Thanks to another long basket by OG Anunoby, New York gets back within four points before halftime (51-47). After the break, Toronto quickly regained the ten-point lead, but like the first period, Chosen by Darko Rajaković he can’t fly away. Except this time the Canadians will be biting their fingers because the Knicks are coming back. Teammates from Guerschon Yabusele (4 points, 5 rebounds) benefits from losing the ball Sandro Mamukelasvili to use their first advantage in the match (69-68).

If the Georgian corrects his mistake with a basket in the racket, New York ends this third quarter with a 13-0 run (82-70). The final act opens with a long-range arrow from Mikal Bridges (30 points, shooting 12/15, from distance 4/6). Since then, the Mike Brown-coached team has thrived as Toronto continues to make a series of mistakes.

On the “and one” from OG Anunoby, New York reached a twenty-point advantage, which sealed the fate of this match. The Knicks leave Canada with a 119-92 record and their fourth straight win before hosting the Blazers this Friday.

WHAT TO REMEMBER:

Lost balloons are expensive. For one half, Toronto held out a stick to beat. While the Knicks were overwhelmed by their many turnovers, the Canadiens were unable to step on the gas at the right time to put themselves away for good. Turnovers are what allowed New York to come back in the second period. During the Knicks’ 27-4 lead at the end of the third quarter, Toronto lost seven of its twenty possessions and let the visitors fly away, simultaneously seeing its four-game winning streak end.

The difference came from the wings. Toronto is a team full of wing players. However, the OG Anunoby – Mikal Bridges duo allowed New York to win. If Brandon Ingram stood out with 27 points, OG Anunoby was able to return the favor to keep the Knicks afloat, while in this third quarter “run” it was Mikal Bridges who widened the gap in favor of the Big Apple franchise. Despite a Jalen Brunson lopsided (5/13), New York could count on its pair of wingers to widen the gap and eventually win.

The Harvest by Carl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks pivot came out of a complicated match against the Kings where he saw the end of the match from the bench. In the second part of this “back-to-back”, the Dominican did not correct the situation as he finished the exercise with 3/11. On the other hand, he shined on the rebound with 22 catches, including 15 on the defensive end, preventing the Canadiens from getting a second chance. On the Toronto side, alone Scottie Barnes reached 10 rebounds.
