The referee and former champion was involved in a brutal car accident

Just weeks after the devastating Anthony Joshua road accident in Nigeriatragedy struck again, but this time in the USA. WWE referee Daphanie LaShaunn and her husband Leon Ruff were recently involved in a brutal accident.

Ruff recently shared an update on the situation on his Instagram, where he gave more details about their fate. Ruff noted that they were “back on the road” and had to go to the hospital.

“Earlier today, my wife and I were in the back of the road. We just got home from the hospital and we are both in pain and shaken,” Ruff wrote. However, he also shared an update on their health, noting that while he is doing well, his wife Defany LaShawn, aka Aya Smith, has been “sick.”

“I’m fine, but Aja is hurting more than me. Unfortunately, the car is totaled. If anyone has anything to do with bookings or upcoming shows, I’d really appreciate the opportunity to pick up some extra bookings. Drive safe and always wear your seatbelt.”

However, as soon as Ruff informed fans about the incident, several WWE stars and judges joined in and shared their prayers for the couple. While LaShaunn currently works as a referee for WWE, Ruff was previously employed by the promotion and is a former NXT North American Champion.
