The rivals’ chief executive believes there is “no choice” but to trade Ja Morant

With guards like Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks and LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets potentially on the move, according to reports, they are names that are associated Grizzlies amid reports of Morant’s potential departure, according to ESPN’s Tim McMahon and Bobby Marks.

“That contingent of coaches, scouts and executives consider Morant a more proven winner than Young, and especially Ball, even though the Grizzlies won just one playoff series in his career,” McMahon and Marks reported. “They believe Morant’s competitive fire can reignite under the right circumstances.”

“I think it’s Ya who can maybe be saved,” said the West executive. “If he has to prove he can play (to get paid again), you can get him.”

However, another Western Conference executive disagrees.

“It’s a gamble, but I really believe Ja will be fine at his next stop. But (the Grizzlies will) have to move Ja. They have no choice.”

The Grizzlies lost to the San Antonio Spurs 126-119 on Tuesday. Morant’s last appearance was in a 133-120 loss to the New York Knicks.
