The Sixers advance against the Wizards

First pushed (34-31) by capacity Wizards to crash into them on the rebound or draw fouls, like Marvin Bagley III or Justin Champagnie, Sixers step on the accelerator when they manage to correct these issues somewhat, in addition to taking better care of the ball and maintaining the same shooting success.

As is often the case, it is Tyrese Maxey who sets the pace, but he is not alone and Jared McCain attacks the circle as much as he does from the bench, while Paul George, Justin Edwards and Jabari Walker punish from distance when the ball can go out.

Thus, two “runs” were set up. Washington on the ropes: 12-1 then 10-1. Not surprisingly, Philadelphia is well ahead at halftime (66-54) and the absence of Joel Embiid, Quentin Grimes, Kelly Oubre Jr. or Trendon Watford are not a problem.

If the Wizards come out of the locker room with good intentions, it only lasts for a while. Skill doesn’t hide behind the arc, and turnovers allow Tyrese Maxey’s band to revel in transition. Dominik Barlow presses into the paint, Maxi catches hot from afar and the Sixers therefore pull the result, without forcing (101-77).

No need to focus on the fourth quarter, which looks like a giant “garbage”, and Philadelphia offers itself an easy victory (121-102) against Washington, thanks to Tyrese McKay in excellent form: 35 points, 6 assists and 4 interceptions in 29 minutes (and three quarters).

TO BE REMEMBERED

Philadelphia got the job done. Down three times in their last four games, the Sixers couldn’t pass up an opportunity to revive themselves, facing the Wizards in a back-to-back format. Slow to start, Tyrese Maxey’s teammates gradually took the measure of the Eastern Conference’s worst team, picking up speed in the second and then the third quarter. Take advantage of good 3-point skills (17/40) and high efficiency to take advantage of opponent turnovers.

Tyrese Maxey insufferable after the break. Scoring 20 of his 35 points in the third quarter, multiple 3-pointers and layups (after counterattacks) against helpless defenders, Tyrese Maxey both took advantage of the opportunity to definitively knock out the Sixers and give himself twelve minutes of welcome rest after not playing the entire fourth quarter. He, the league leader in minutes per game (almost 41 before tonight).
