The Timberwolves have been added to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s list of trade suitors

Giannis Antetokounmpo looks like he’s ready to find a new team to play for, and milwaukee The Bucks are ready to find him a new home. With that report coming out, there were several teams ready to make a deal to acquire the Bucks star. The Miami Heat and New York Knicks were the two best teams, but Minnesota Timberwolves they also showed interestaccording to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The The Timberwolves were open to upgrading their team dating back to the offseason when they were in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes. It’s clear they’re willing to take the necessary steps to find a big-time talent to pair with Anthony Edwards, but it’s uncertain whether they will have what it takes to reach a deal, says Jon Krawczynski of the Athletic.
“If Giannis is really available, they’re going to try to get him. I think it’s unlikely they’ll get a deal done, but they’re going to try,” Krawczynski said on his podcast.
If the Timberwolves were to make a deal for Antetokounmpo, they would likely have to offer Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels, but is that enticing enough for the Bucks to get the green light?
The Bucks would likely want young players and picks in exchange for Antetokounmpo, so the Timberwolves may have to be willing to give up a little more. At the same time, a third team could step in and make the job sweeter for the Bucks.
For now, the Timberwolves are in good shape with the team they have right now, and Edwards is playing some of the best basketball of his career. It makes sense to take advantage of that, and the Timberwolves are looking to bounce back after making two straight Western Conference Finals appearances, but it might not be worth giving up an entire team for one guy.
