The Tree Young trade looks like a move for the Kings. Don’t count on it
The Sacramento Kings were one of five teams reportedly linked to a potential trade for Atlanta Hawks‘ Trae Young in the midst of the Jastrebov’s search for a potential suitor. The latest suggests Young favors a trade to the Washington Wizardsbut you can count the Kings out of the mix, according to a new report.
Kings will not to practice a trade for Young, according to The Stein Line’s Jake Fisher.
“We’ve reported since November (see attached story) that Sacramento’s new front office led by Scott Perry had no plans to move on Young and that remains the case,” Fisher reported. “No matter how often rival teams pitch the Kings as a potential landing spot for Young in outright trade scenarios or multi-team structures that help deliver Dallas Anthony Davis to the Hawks.”
Kings guard Zach LaVine’s agents proposed a move to the Hawks for Young during the offseason, but the Kings front office reportedly turned it down.
“League sources say representatives from LaVine’s Klutch Sports tried during the offseason to build some support for a trade structure that would send their client to Atlanta for Young, but the Kings nixed the idea,” Fisher added.
The NBA trade deadline is February 5.
Trae Young is reportedly pushing for a deal with the Wizards

While it is The Hawks trading Tree Young before the deadline feels inevitableit’s hard to predict which way they’ll go, but the Wizards are reportedly the favorites during the early stages. The Wizards top Young’s list, according to ESPN’s Shams Charani.
“Trey Young has the Washington Wizards as his preferred trade destination, sources tell ESPN. Atlanta is working to move Young, who has a $49 million player option in the offseason, which would make his contract expire; or opt out, leave and give the Hawks significant cap space,” Charania reported on X, formerly Twitter.
A formal trade proposal could be presented by the end of this week.
