The video of Rob Pelinka thanking Nick Harrison for being Luka Doncic resurfaces

The rest of the world may have moved on from the stunning trade of Luka Dončić it led him to Los Angeles Lakers February, but the legions of Dallas Mavericks fans sure aren’t. On Tuesday, the same Mavs got the news they’ve been hoping to hear for months, as Dallas reportedly fires its general manager Nico Harrisona man believed to be the chief engineer of Dončić’s trade.

Adding to the buzz about Harrison’s firing is a video being shared on social media showing the Lakers’ president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka thanks to Mavs and Harrison during Doncic’s introductory press conference in Los Angeles back in February.

The footage is timely to recall, given reports of Harrison’s firing.

As a refresher, the Mavericks shocked the entire basketball universe just before the 2025 NBA trade deadline by sending the Slovenian superstar guard to the Lakers along with Maxi Klember and Markieff Morris in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a future 2029 first-rounder. A third team, Utah, also involved the Hoody Jays in the deal. 2025 Lakers second rounder.

It’s clear the Lakers have no regrets about that trade, especially given Doncic’s performance so far in the 2025-26 NBA season. The former scoring champion just dropped 38 points in Monday’s road win against the Charlotte Hornets. As of this writing, Doncic is averaging 37.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game, while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor.

Meanwhile, Davis, the centerpiece of the trade package the Mavs got from parting ways with Doncic, has missed six straight games with a calf injury.

While the Lakers are 8-3 through 11 games, the Mavs sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings at 3-8.
