The Warriors are ‘aware’ of the Lakers’ Jonathan Cumminga trade intrigue
After months of speculation that it is Golden State Warriors he would most likely trade Jonathan Cumminga before NBA trade deadlinethe Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in a potential move for the veteran forward. Kuminga made his trade request to the Warriors official, ending any lingering intrigue over whether he’ll try to make things work with Golden State.
Lakers have some interest in trading for Cummings, according to The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson II, Sam Amick and Nick Friedell.
“League and team sources have confirmed the report that the Lakers have some interest in Cummings, although it remains unclear if negotiations will take place,” Thompson II, Amick and Friedel reported. “The warriors, sources say, are aware of the intrigue and are waiting to see how the situation will develop.”
The Warriors will weigh their options before the Feb. 5 trade deadline, but according to reports, a move is imminent in the next few weeks.
Jonathan Cuminga is nearing his final days with the Warriors
As a veteran striker Jonathan Kuminga’s tenure at the Warriors will come to an end in the following weeks, the decision for the two to go their separate ways is mutual. The Warriors will soon find a destination for Cummings before the trade deadline, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
“There appears to be a mutual understanding between Warriors management and Kuminga’s side that a trade will be accomplished within the next four weeks leading up to the trade deadline, sources told ClutchPoints,” Siegel reported.
“Despite Cummings’ value clearly decreasing and teams believing they can acquire the 23-year-old at a discounted rate compared to previous years, the Warriors have discussed several avenues with teams still registering interest in him.”
It is still too early to judge which team will be Kuminga’s next stop. Either way, the Warriors front office will be busy.
