The Warriors are outscoring the Kings in ten minutes

The Warriors are off to a fast start in this Northern California derby. Eleven points from Stephen Curry (27 points, 10 assists) quickly gave them a nine-point advantage (21-12). The Kings are not as skilled, but, like Maxime Rayno (8 points, 7 rebounds), they dominate the offensive rebound. In the first quarter, they scored seven more than Golden State, and Zach LaVine (15 points) kept them in ambush (34-29).

The trio of DeMar DeRozan – Malik Monk – Dennis Schroeder (15 points) confirms Sacramento’s good performance. They start the second period with a 12-4 lead and take the lead (41-38). Allowed so far, Golden State’s defense is finally getting into its matchup. He limited the Kings to nine points in the next four minutes, as Jimmy Butler (15 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds), Al Horford (9 points, 5 rebounds) and Gary Payton II (12 points, 8 rebounds) gave the Warriors an advantage before the break (63-59).

The second half starts in a false rhythm. Defensive efforts are still invisible and both teams are scoring in abundance. DeRozan (24 points) scores seven points in four minutes, Curry and Butler imitate him, and no one manages to take control of the operations (75-74). Two award-winning shots from Stephen Curry appeared to settle the situation, but the Warriors continued with two turnovers that nullified Cook’s efforts. Dennis Schroeder’s six straight points put the two teams back, but De’Anthony Melton (19 points) allows Golden State to finish the quarter with a 13-0 lead and finally take the lead (97-84)!

The oaks did not even give an end to their northern neighbors at that time. Draymond Green’s 3-point shot (11 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds), on Stephen Curry’s tenth assist, brought the deficit over twenty units after the first minutes of the last quarter (115-90). The Kings have lost their seventh straight, while the Warriors are two of two at home before playing the next six games on their home floor.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

– Three minutes that changed the match. The two teams were tied at 84 with three minutes to play in the third quarter, and with Stephen Curry headed to the bench to rest, the Warriors hoped to hold on without their star. They did much better. As in the last game, De’Anthony Melton will force the outcome. Aggressive, he made a layup, two free throws, and a shot with the backboard. In the process, Golden State’s defense is raising its voice and Steve Kerr’s men are finally capitalizing. They pounded the Kings in the paint, and Melton’s 3-pointer capped a 13-0 run that put them on the road to victory.

– Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler, maestro. Facing Sacramento’s defense, the Warriors’ Big 3 enjoyed themselves. Curry’s pressure on the Kings opened up a lot of space and the three players took great pleasure in dissecting their opponents. They shared 24 of their team’s 39 assists between them. This altruism allowed the entire Golden State team to shine, with five other players scoring nine or more points.

– Maxim Raynaud, firm and discreet. For his sixteenth straight start, the Frenchman got off to a strong start, scoring 6 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in the first quarter. He was especially aggressive on the offensive rebound to maintain contact with the team. The rest of his match will lag behind. The Warriors solved their rebounding problem and Rayno had little opportunity to shine on offense. The match ended with 8 points on 4/6 shooting.
