The Warriors may not sign Lonzo Ball. Could the Nuggets get in?
With The NBA trade deadline has passedteams are still trying to find ways to improve their team. After the deadline, there are always a few players who can be dropped during the process, and teams line up to sign them to their team. This year, one of those players was Lonzo Ball, who was traded to the Utah Jazz and redeemed from them.
When the news first broke, ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel presented two teams who were interested in his services.
“As the NBA’s buyout market takes shape, league sources said.” ClutchPoints that two teams have emerged as serious suitors for Lonca Ball: Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets. “Both teams are looking to add an experienced ball-catcher to their backfield,” Siegel wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The Warriors appeared to be the frontrunner for Ball, but it looks like they can withdraw from the raceaccording to NBA insider Marc Stein.
“There were some new rumors over the weekend that the Warriors might decide not to sign Lonzo Ball eventually after converting Pat Spencer from a two-way deal to a standard NBA deal,” Stein wrote. “Haines reported that multiple teams are reviewing Ball’s medical records to determine whether to sign the veteran guard, who became a free agent after Cleveland traded him to Utah to cut the luxury tax. And our Jake Fisher reported that Denver is one of those teams after Ball was waived by the Jazz.”
The Nuggets may now have a clear path to sign Ball, and he would be a key part of their guard for the rest of the season. At the same time, his injury history is something to look deeply into, as he hasn’t been at the healthiest of his career. This season has gone well for him in that department, and we hope it will stay that way.
