The Warriors trade door for Anthony Davis is still open, but it appears to be closed
The The Golden State Warriors have had a rather disappointing season begins the 2025-26 season, is currently 19-18 heading into Wednesday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks. With Stephen Curry and others With the core not getting any younger, many have speculated that Golden State could try to make a trade in an attempt to save their season.
One name that has been mentioned more than once is that of the Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davisand although it is not yet completely ruled out, it it doesn’t seem particularly likely let something go down.
Recently, Christian Clark and Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that the Warriors “also discussed Davis’ deal with the Mavericks, with team sources indicating the door wasn’t completely closed. Still, with the Warriors known to be adamantly against the idea of trading either Draymond Green ($25.8 million this season), or $5, there’s no real path to finding $5 million ($1 million). It works financially.”
Indeed, if the Warriors are unwilling to part with Green, making a trade for Davis would seem virtually impossible from a financial perspective. While Green remains one of the NBA’s best defenders and is forever embedded in the fabric of the Warriors’ dynastic run, many fans have found that a decline in his offensive production would warrant a trade for a player like Davis at this point in his career.
For his part, Curry continues to produce at an elite level most nights, even as injury concerns begin to mount, and Butler also provides a stabilizing force for the Warriors on both ends of the floor, even if some fans would like to see his offensive aggression increase.
Either way, the Warriors and Bucks are scheduled to tip off on Wednesday at 10:00 PM ET from the Bay Area.
