Tidjane Salaun was full of confidence
Averaging 12.2 points on 64% shooting and 62% three-point shooting in four games, Tidjane Salaun has been in good form since being called up by Charles Lee and the Hornets. The Frenchman spent almost a month in the G-League and his return is very solid. It is even the best sequence of his career, symbolized by his 21 points against Toronto.
“He helps us a lot. We tend to forget that he’s only 20 years old. He’s still learning. I came into the NBA at 20 and had no idea what I was doing.”, if it appears Miles Bridges. “That’s why we have to give him a chance. He will always have my support. He will be very good for us.”
Apparently, the weeks spent in the G-League, with the Greensboro Swarm, did the French good, which can serve as an example to Nolan Traore, The Nets just recalled.
“I love the state of mind that Tidjane brought back from his time in Greensboro”points out coach Charlotte. “I saw him accepting his role more than at the beginning of the season and that’s very good. He has more confidence in his role. He’s more comfortable too, after playing more.”
Keeping the G-League shining
And while his offensive choices were often questionable last season and his efficiency suffered, Tidjane Salaun has gained in accuracy and precision in recent days.
“Offensively, he helps us circulate the ball a lot”rejoices Charles Lee. “He has a better understanding of spaces and where to position himself on the court, where to get the 3-point shot. He sees these opportunities. Even if I ask him to stay in the corners, he knows when the defense is wrong and can let him cut the back line. I enjoy seeing him embrace his role and do the simple things, the things that are asked of him.”
“I know it was difficult for him at the beginning of the season and it’s about getting the right mentality. We have to look at our time in Greensboro as an opportunity to improve, to correct what needs to be corrected, to continue to improve, to work on our leadership and our communication.” adds KJ Simpson, also sent to the G-League during the month of November.
“I had a conversation with him.”continues the latter, to make sure he is focused, mentally engaged and ignoring outside noise while working. He brings a lot to this team, coach talks a lot about him, so it was great to go see him in Greensboro, have that spark and bring it back here. »
