TJ Watt gets a troubling update after being ruled out for Week 16

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now in do-or-die mode. With just three games remaining in the season, the Steelers entered a battle with the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North crown. That division title is either team’s only chance to clinch a playoff spot, so both teams will go head-to-head in the final three weeks of the season.
The Steelers, unfortunately, enter the final stretch of the race already clumsy. Star pass rusher TJ Watt was ruled out for Week 16 against the Detroit Lions with a partially collapsed lung. It’s a dangerous disease that can be life-threatening, so Pittsburgh practices plenty of caution. That being said, the latest report on Watt seems to indicate that the Steelers have passed on the pass rush he will be out for most of the latter part of the games.
“After missing two games with a partially collapsed lung, TJ Watt’s return to action remains cloudy and uncertain, according to sources,” Adam Schefter reports. “Watt’s focus has been on recovering from a partially collapsed lung; returning to the game is secondary and has not been his focus. Doctors will evaluate him next week to see if he has any chance of playing in Week 17, but ideally, Watt will be given more time to recover from the lung injury that kept him out of Sunday’s game against Detroit.”
The Steelers have an 8-6 record coming into Week 16, while the Ravens are 7-7. Both teams will face each other in the final week of the season. If the Steelers win both games before then, they would guarantee their spot in the postseason. However, if they start losing, things get too complicated for their liking. Watt’s return would help, but his long-term health remains the top priority.
for now, The Steelers will turn their attention to the Detroit Lions. A win here would give Pittsburgh a much-needed boost in the playoff race.
